ABOUT US
Cloud 9 opened in 2006 and is the longest running body art studio offering both tattoos and body piercing in the metropolitan Birmingham area. We are fully licensed and inspected by Jefferson County Department of Health and always meet or exceed the standards set by the Alabama Department of Public Health.
Since opening we have expanded our body art services to include semi-permanent cosmetic tattooing (permanent makeup) and microblading.
We carry a large selection of fine body jewelry crafted of gold, rose gold, white gold, implant grade titanium and niobium with a selection of Swarovski crystals, diamonds and other genuine stones.
TATTOOS
Our tattoo artists have several years of professional experience tattooing in licensed studios. They are available for custom designs or, if you prefer, executing tattoo-ready designs that you bring along with you.
Since the pandemic we have changed our operating logistics in order to protect the health of our clients and staff and maximize our efficiency. One of the changes include streamlining the flow of people through the studio. We require appointments for all services. If you bring a companion with you we will ask them to wait in the lobby while you are being tattooed.
For smaller designs, we may be able to execute them the same day as your consultation. Larger or full custom pieces take time to prepare in a tattoo-ready format and thus will require setting a later appointment (held with a deposit) to have the tattoo performed by your chosen artist. Deposits are non-refundable retainers and will be applied to the price of your tattoo.

BODY PIERCING
Our owner and head body piercer, Karri, has 20 years of experience in the industry. Aimee is a professional body piercer that joined our studio in the Spring of 2023. Together they have been providing healthy piercing-related services in a safe and welcoming environment.
Cloud 9 never uses piercing guns; they are not sterile, are traumatizing to the tissue, and rarely result in healthy, well placed piercings. Our sterile, single-use piercing needles are swift, more gentle and are immediately discarded in a biohazard sharps container.

We will evaluate for anatomical suitability for the piercing(s) you are interested in, discuss placement considerations and appropriate jewelry choices - all parts of a well thought out ear curation. The process continues with aseptic skin preparation, careful marking using skin-safe sterile surgical markers and then piercing with all sterile materials. The final step is installation of sterile high quality, well fitted jewelry that you have chosen. We use implant grade titanium and solid gold jewelry approved by the Association for Professional Piercers as safe for initial and still-healing piercings. Long past are the days when we were limited to simple surgical steel body jewelry.
